Einstein - User Preview 1
待ちに待ったユーザープレビューが公開されました。今回のリリースではスクリーンマネージャがCocoaとX11から選択できるようになっています。キーボード入力もサポートされてますので、マウスで不細工な文字を書き込んでいたのから解放されました。使用期限は４月１８日までとなっています。
もうちょっと使い込んでレポートします。みんなからのインプレッションも待ってますよ。

どうもキーボードの入力はうまくいかないです。あと、画面サイズがうまく調整されないようです。いろいろ触ってみます。

まずスクリーンサイズとRAMサイズをいじると起動できませんね。つぎにinternal.flashファイルが機能していないのか毎回初期状態に戻っちゃいます。あとROMファイルとinternal.flashの場所は毎回指定しなおさなきゃなんないんでしょうか？ 両方ともとりあえずUser/home/Library/Application Support/Einstein Emulator/に入れてますが。。。

ども。ボクのところでもキーボード入力は快適ですね。普通にタイプしても付いてきてくれます。スクリーンサイズは変えられますよ。ボクがいつも試しているのは480×482の正方形。480×480だとナゼか正方形にならなかったので、こうしています。

私はRAMサイズいじっても平気でした。
スクリーンサイズは変えてもただ余白大きくなるだけでした。

うちは RAMサイズをいじっても起動はできますが、す〜〜〜っごく起動に時間がかかります。そして、その割には全然速くなりません(^^;
ということでいまのところ RAM サイズを変更するのはあまり意味がないかなという感じです。

起動しました。キーボード入力問題無し。iBookG412inchで音割れ以外は
いい感じで動いています。
データの保存がうまくいっていません。再起動ごとに最初の画面が出ます。
っていうか、それ以前に問題が……。
Lantern DDK にてROMの吸い出しを行ったのですが、ROMがFinderから見えません。故に名前の変更ができずにちょっと困ってます。とりあえずファイルのセレクタからは見えているので使うことはできるのですが……。
ROMDumperでやり直すべきかな？Newton側のIPってどこでみればいいのでしょうか？

Newton側の IP は Internet Setup で確認できるかと思います。
Finder から見えないだけならターミナルを起動して mv で名前を変更するというのではどうでしょう。

GNUEさん、ありがとうございました。かなり以前に設定したまんまだったので完全に忘れてました。うまくROMを抜き出せました。
先ほども書きましたが、全体的には皆さんの動作状況と大差ないですね。
曰く、起動時のファイル類の再設定
曰く、画面サイズの設定次第では、きちんと大きな画面になったり、空白が増えるだけだったり
サウンドについては、最初の部分は再生されるのですが、音の後半が切れている感じなのがちょっと気になりますね。
キーボード入力はかなり快適な感じです。日本語関係が入るとやっぱり、速度が落ちますかね？ iBookがでっかいeMateになりそう（w。
なかなか順調な感じがしますが、ここから煮詰めるのが大変でしょうね。明日はタブレットを使って操作してみます。

最初、全然立ち上がらなくて困ったのですが、サウンド出力がUSB接続のオーディオインターフェース（UA-3FX）だったのを、内蔵オーディオに換えたら起動しました。
ちゃんと検証した訳ではないのですが、画面サイズによって空白が増える問題は、MPの場合、縦長のときはうまくいくけど、横長になるサイズ指定にすると空白が出来る様な。そんなことないですか？

タブレットで使ってみました。
動作環境はiBookG４（PowerPC G4 1.2GHz、768MByte、プロセッサパフォーマンスを最高に設定、タブレットはIntuos GD-0608-U）です。
まずは手書き入力から。
タブレットPCと同じ様に、マウスカーソルがちょっと違和感ありますね。書いたところから描線がされずに、書き終わった後でワンテンポおいてから現れるので、複雑な文字とかは難しいです。また、直線はいいのですが、例えば「P」の様に半円形の様なパーツは、書き始めと書き終わりのみが認識されるような形になるので直線になってしまい、うまく書けません。全体的には若干ゆっくり目に書くのがこつでしょうか。
で、手書き認識。
上記のような感じですので、文字を単体で「A」「P」「P」というように入力するのが精一杯でした。それでも誤認識は多いです。単語の入力はうちの環境では難しいですね。もっと高速なMacならばいけるのではないでしょうか？
次にスケッチ
これは、結構使えます。ゆっくり目に書いてやれば、読める字で書き込めます。なかなかいい感じ。
シェイプ
四角と丸を描いて動かしたりしてみましたが、動かすときにリアルタイムでついてくる感じがないので、移動が難しい。それでも（当たり前ですが）、きちんと補正されて真円や正方形に認識されたりするのはなかなか嬉しい。
インクテキスト
これもまあまあついてきますが、インクテキストに変換される頃合いの間がよくわからない（それはこちらの問題ですが）。でも、何か書き込むならスケッチの方がいいですね。変換作業がある分、戸惑います。
スクラブ
こちらが感覚をつかんでないので、普通に2100にやるようにスクラブをかけると、スケッチや文字などに認識されます。やっぱり確実に今から消すぞ、って感じでないと。書く作業と消す作業の間の時間をきっちりとらないとだめですね。
基本的には問題はないです。当たり前ですけれど。使用感としては、「G５が欲しい。もしくは、G4Dual（笑）」です。実際、もう少しぎくしゃく感がなければ手書きでも行けるかなって感じがします。現状ではキーボードの方がさくさく動く感じですね。
何かタブレットで試してほしいことなどありましたらお知らせください。

Screen DriverがCocoaだと、マウスのボタンを離した後しか描画されませんが、X11だと描画され、軌跡が分かります。このこととは関係ありませんか？

そうですね。X11では、ペンの軌跡が追従してきます。スクラブについても、普通の動作で結構ついてきてくれますよ（iMac G4 800MHz 512MB）。

まだ購入後１週間で、iBook本体の自分のための環境設定もままならない状態でしたので、X11も導入していませんでした。上記のインプレッションはCocoaで行ったということを追記しておきます。
で、急ぎX11を導入しました。
快適の一言です（w。単語の認識も問題ありません。すらすら書けます。これなら今すぐ使えますね。タブレットで使うと、やっぱり雰囲気もそれっぽくなってきます。普段MP２１００を使っている感じとほぼ近い動作が得られました。今ほどタブレットMacが欲しいと思ったことはないです(^^)。
これだけ動けばMac上でもDates、NotePad、Addressを使いたいです。
